Now Attending the Eternal Lodge Meeting Above
On Saturday, August 3rd, 2024, W. Bro. Dudley decided it was time to join the most exclusive lodge of all—The Grand Lodge Above. His final earthly meeting was a well-attended affair at Breakspear Crematorium on Wednesday, August 21st, 2024, where his family, friends, and Masonic friends gathered to send him off with the utmost respect, masons acting as pall bearers and a guard of honour for our cherished friend.
Dudley was not just a member of our lodge; he was practically a fixture. For over fifty years, he supported us through organising countless Ladies’ nights, dinners, and dances, his various lodge offices and as Mentor for the last 15 years.
His absence will be deeply felt, especially during Lodge of Instruction meetings, where Dudley served as Secretary. His iconic closing line, “I have no communication from Grand Lodge, Provincial Grand Lodge, or any other lodge,” will no longer bring that knowing smile to the brethren. But somehow, we imagine he’s still delivering it, with a wink, in that grand lodge in the sky.
Dudley lived respected, and died regretted.
